I am not of Jewish descent, but the roots of my own Christian heritage grew from the rich, holy soil of Israel. Our faiths and our futures are inseparably linked by a bond that cannot be denied.

62 years ago, from the ashes of the Holocaust, the world came together to support Israel’s request for recognition as a soveriegn nation. The world did not do it for stated spiritual reasons, but as many are fond of saying “The Lord works in mysterious ways”. We re-established Israel into a sovereign nation from a land that had been all but abandoned by the local inhabitants. This decision was the right thing to do, for the right reasons. Those reasons are as true today as they were then. Israel today, is the natural home of the Jewish Nation.

The United States has unequivocally supported Israel’s right to exist…until now. Recent events have revealed a troubling trend in the world’s perspective, a dislike bordering on contempt for Israel and its people. History has shown this maltreatment is not foreign to the Jews. They have been the victims of prosecution, and persecution – repeatedly held responsible for the world’s woes since the beginning of time itself.

Last year, we had a glimpse of what the future may hold. In Obama’s famous Cairo speech reaching out to the Muslim World, he drew a moral equivalence between the “suffering” of the Palestinians and the Holocaust against the Jewish people.

We witnessed the inexcusable disrespect of Netanyahu by the White House. He was brought in through a servant’s entrance, not offered even a cup of tea, but was lectured at by Obama. The President forbade him from attacking Iran, and demanded that Mr. Netanyahu remove all forces from the West bank. Further, Obama dictated that Israel was not to build any more settlements (de facto neighborhoods) in East Jerusalem.

Obama refuses to oppose Iran’s re-arming of Hezbollah is Syria, and Hamas in Palestine. As a result, Israel now stands in imminent danger from massive amounts of missiles sighted on her lands. They stand on the razor’s edge.

Recently, Israel reacted appropriately by boarding the ship, Rachel Corrie, for suspicions of it’s transportation of weapons and Islamic terrorists bound for the Gaza Strip. This action was taken to protect Israeli citizenry, but was condemned by the world. Now is the time for every American to fully grasp what is a stake, not only with the sole democracy in the Middle East, but our own national security as well.

Now more than ever is the time for America to stand with Israel.

We must not support any division of Jerusalem. David, the anointed king of Israel built Jerusalem. His son Solomon made it great. The recent Muslim claims to Jerusalem are based on a story concocted by Muhammad, who never even stepped within the city walls.

One flag will fly over Jerusalem, the Israeli flag. As I stated 17 months ago when I first began this campaign, we must demonstrate our support by building our embassy in Jerusalem, the capital city. We must not tolerate any Congressperson who supports Obama in this agenda. Our own Congresswoman, Ms. Wasserman Schultz, has shown her true colors by marching in lockstep with the Administration’s policy decisions. She has failed to lodge significant protest to this gross negligence of foreign policy. Her silence is deafening.

If Israel is truly the “Canary in the Mine”, the world should know that the “canary” has teeth. We must allow Israel to defend her freedom, her liberty, and her divine right to exist. Our role is simple, we must, in no uncertain terms, send a strong message to the world that these United States of America has her back!

The United States has consistently stood for Israel’s right of self-determination, until now.

While Congresswoman Wassermann Shultz’s failure to denounce President Obama’s treatment of Prime Minister Netenyahu and his delegation is distressing, her continuing silence regarding this administration’s abandonment of Israel demonstrates support of the President’s increasing emnity towards Israel. Her silence is deafening.

Here in South Florida, the constituents in the 20th District do not support, nor will ever abide, this administration’s continuing attempt to constrain Israel’s right of self-determination. We have witnessed with growing alarm Wasserman Schultz’s ignorance to the will of her constituents over the past 5 years.

While Debbie Wasserman Schultz has professed support for Israel, it is obvious through her actions that party loyalty overrides her support of the Jewish Homeland. Our ally Israel deserves better of us as a nation and without a doubt deserves better consideration from our Nation and above all the Jewish Caucus in the US House of Representatives.

As the Congressional Representative for District 20, I will stand firm and work to continue our nation’s support for Israel, and support Israel’s right to make her own decisions on how best to protect herself. I will not be silent in my support of Israel, and will not hesitate to make it clear to this administration and the world that America must remain an ardent ally of Israel.

Israel’s and America are tethered together in freedom. We are the world’s last bastion of hope. There has never been a time where party loyalty or political agenda should supersede the support of our national security.

Hollywood, FL (Vocus) August 12, 2010

Over the past few weeks, Republican Congressional candidate Robert Lowry has experienced a windfall of unexpected support. His campaign in District 20 is the one Florida Congressional campaign gaining support from two unlikely sources — Democrats and Independents. Nationally the number of voters switching from Democrat to Independent or Republican continues to grow. But in South Florida’s 20th District, candidate Robert Lowry is giving them ample reason to switch. Lowry is promising true representation – the kind the founders of the United States mandated in the Constitution.

The Lowry Campaign has enthusiastically welcomed the endorsement of Howard Neu, lifelong Democrat and former Mayor of North Miami. In a response to that endorsement, Lowry stated, “My campaign is happy to welcome all Democrats who have felt ignored and betrayed by the Democratic Party and by Debbie Wasserman Schultz.”

Former Mayor Neu sought out the Lowry campaign because of his stated dissatisfaction with Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her lack of attention to the voice of District 20 constituents. “I recognized that the right course was to support Robert Lowry,” stated Neu. “Lowry believes that conservativism, not progressivism, is the future of our great nation.”

Lowry’s opponents predictably painted the Neu endorsement as a shift to the left in the Lowry campaign. “This is just desperate politicking by those who oppose me,” Lowry stated. “I have not changed my platform. From the word ’go’, I have let the people know that this is a campaign to bring back Constitutional representation.”

“In fact,” Lowry added, “what this endorsement actually signifies is a significant shift to the right for many of my Democratic and Independent constituents-to-be. They choose to support my campaign because they realize that Debbie Wasserman Schultz has stopped listening to her constituents. Instead, she is actively working to subvert their constitutional rights.” Democrats and Independents supporting Lowry echoed this sentiment, stating that “…the only way to defeat Wasserman Schultz is to have the strongest conservative candidate possible running against her in the general election.”

Detractors to the Lowry campaign have also tried to use the recent Miami Herald endorsement of Lowry against him, calling the paper a “liberal rag.” Lowry finds that reaction ironic. “I am proud to be endorsed for the Republican primary by the paper of record for South Florida.” He further stated, “All three Republican candidates in the District 20 race accepted the invitation from the Editorial Board of the Miami Herald to be interviewed. All three candidates hoped to win that endorsement. Isn’t it interesting that the criticism is coming after the fact from one of the candidates they refused to endorse? It’s typical political sour grapes. If the candidate did not want the endorsement, why show up at the Miami Herald in the first place?”

Lowry and his campaign supporters are proud to be in the company of many other candidates endorsed by the Miami Herald, including Pam Bondi (Attorney General), Bill McCollum (Governor), Jeanette Nuñez (District 112), Jose Felix Diaz (District 115), and Ellyn Bogdanoff (District 25).

Endorsements are coming to Lowry from many additional sources formerly considered unlikely for a Republican candidate. Lowry has been endorsed by Sal Oliveri, past mayor of Hollywood, by the South Florida Caribbean News, and by the Libertarian party of Florida. Adding to the nod from the Miami Herald and former Mayor Howard Nue, those endorsements may seem like strange bedfellows for the campaign. But Lowry responds: “Each of these endorsements shares one thing in common: they view my candidacy as one of the strongest the South Florida Republican party has ever seen. They recognize and endorse the fact that I am absolutely committed to the Constitution. They know I will provide solid representation for them and solutions to the critical issues facing all of us.”

Even more, grassroots groups like Independence Caucus and DC Works for Us (who have also endorsed Allen West in District 22) have thrown their full support behind Lowry’s Constitutional platform. They like Lowry’s intention to “…oust self-serving politicians with over-reaching agendas and reckless spending policies. November 2nd is our time to join together as Americans to fight the tyranny, not unlike what Thomas Jefferson himself accomplished. We can never allow ourselves to grow complacent again.”

Lowry proudly carries the designation many have given him as a “civilian candidate,” calling for Americans to agree on common beliefs to turn the country back to constitutional values. Lowry’s reasoning is clear. “I believe the love of liberty and the preservation of equal opportunity have to be at the core of all we do. Simply put, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and her Progressive cronies in Congress have charted the wrong course for this great nation. We must stand together as true Americans to restore our country to its Constitutional foundation.”

Clearly, Lowry’s message is resonating with those who are hearing it, with supporters flocking to the Lowry Campaign from all sectors of District 20 in Florida.

By Jonathan Raof

The 2010 congressional elections in Florida will be held on November 2, 2010 to determine who will represent the state of Florida in the United States House of Representatives. Florida’s 20th congressional district is currently represented by incumbent Democrat Debbie Wasserman Schultz, fighting for reelection against business woman Karen Harrington of Davie, FL, businessman Dennis Lamb of Pembroke Pines, FL, and of course, Libertarian Viewpoint favorite Robert Lowry, will face each other for the Republican nomination.

Robert Lowry has been a Broward County, Florida resident for the past 15 years. Lowry lives in Hollywood, FL, with his wife Elisabeth and his two children. Lowry is president and CEO of his own company Lowry Group Properties (LGP), Inc. – a real estate development company in business – since 1993.

Lowry understands the country’s success has been based on the immigration of those striving for a better life. Those that come here know that America represents a better life, and a better opportunity than any other country. Lowry does NOT support amnesty. Instead, Lowry will work to secure our borders, and make the process for legal immigration to America a cost-effective and efficient process, rewarding those who take the legal channels. “Pursuing the American Dream through Legal Immigration is not a Democrat thing, or a Republican thing, it is an AMERICAN thing,” says Lowry.

Strengthening our Economy through Fiscal Discipline and Tax Code Reform is Lowry’s frame of mind if elected. To put America on a secure path towards economic growth and long term prosperity, Lowry intends to vote against any proposed future bailout or pork-laden appropriations bill. In addition, Lowry wants to substantially reduce the corporate tax rate, reduce the capital gains tax, and eliminate the “Death Tax”, enact a flat tax system, introduce sharp reductions of Congressional perks, benefits, pensions, and expense accounts, and of course privatize programs that are inefficiently managed by government.

On Cap and Trade, Lowry says: “This is not an effort to control the environment through “capping” and “trading” carbon emissions, this is an effort to control American business and innovation. It is based on unproven science and profiteering by “green” companies. We all want to be good stewards of our planet, but the insanity of writing policy on “scare science” has to be stopped.”

Lowry is all about defending 2nd Amendment rights. As congressman, Lowry will oppose any legislation that waters down Second Amendment protections, including any future “Assault Weapons Ban.” In addition, Lowry will protect the right of authorized agents to carry firearms as they go about their business investigating serious criminal activity in dangerous areas, as well as strictly enforcing existing gun laws and severely punishing violent criminals who possess illegally obtained guns. YES, district 20 of Florida wants their guns!

From the Desk of Sal Oliveri
Former Mayor and City Commissioner of Hollywood, Florida

August 10, 2010

As a public servant it’s always been more important to me to vote in favor of issues that would benefit my constituents and neighbors. It has also been important to me to support people who have the best interests of the people of South Florida and the United States in mind and heart.

Keeping that in mind, I’m pleased to endorse Candidate Robert Lowry as my choice for representative in Florida’s 20th District. He has an unshakable belief in the Constitution of the United States, and an unwavering commitment to truly representing the people of District 20 FL. to truly protect the freedoms and liberties we that we hold so dear.

I also feel strongly that any candidate for election or for reelection must be a person of high standards, character, honesty, and integrity. This has to be a vital element of their qualifications to run for office – especially due to the epidemic of dishonest, disloyal, self-serving public officials and candidates for office in recent years – causing a mistrusting majority of voters locally and nationally.

Needless to say, Robert Lowry possesses the high standards and noble qualities required in a true public servant and statesman, and I am pleased to endorse him and his candidacy.

Sincerely,

We know that the country is going in the wrong direction when a lifelong Democrat votes against his party line. When the voter feels his voice is no longer heard and makes the decision that is right. Howard Neu is a patriot who fears his country is being high jacked and his liberties are being taken. The Robert Lowry Campaign is proud to announce this endorsement from this former mayor of North Miami!

It speaks well for the GOP’s exuberant spirit in this anti-incumbent year that three candidates are vying for the party’s nomination in what is considered a Democratic stronghold. The oddly-shaped district where Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the incumbent includes portions of Miami-Dade and Broward counties. It stretches from South Beach to Weston and areas north of Fort Lauderdale.

The GOP hopefuls are Karen Harrington, 46, a restaurant owner; Robert Lowry, 51, who operates assisted-living facilities; and Donna E. Milo, 49, a general contractor. All three describe themselves as unwavering conservatives who believe the federal government is not listening to average citizens and must be restrained in terms of spending and policy overreach.

“We are absolutely fed up with government,” says Ms. Harrington, who added that she well understands and shares the frustrations of Tea Party supporters.

None of the candidates favors a national hurricane insurance program, believing private insurance programs offer better alternatives, and all are adamantly opposed to the healthcare reform bill approved by Congress earlier this year and signed by the president.

None of the candidates has run for public office before, but Ms. Milo has experience on the Miami Planning Advisory Board, the Miami-Dade County Domestic Violence Oversight Board and the Miami Commission on the Status of Women.

Mr. Lowry says his plan to improve the economy includes replacing unemployment payments with a system giving an immediate tax break to employers hiring unemployed workers, reducing capital gains taxes and providing a 24-month tax-free period for any new business. If elected, he would seek a spot on a committee dealing with small business.

As the owner of a business operating assisted-living facilities, he says his knowledge of the intricacies and weaknesses of Medicare would give him an advantage in this area.

For the U.S. House District 20 Republican primary, The Miami Herald recommends

ROBERT LOWRY.
